I Love Long Drives

Hawaii "Rush Hour"

Around the time of my birthday last year, my boyfriend took me to Hawaii. I couldn't believe I was in Hawaii! It was the most romantic and relaxing vacation I will ever experience. I was with a man that I loved so dearly. It was a wonderful trip.

I didn't get to see him too often, so really we could have gone anywhere, it didn't matter to me. He rented a car and we drove around the island. We stopped when we saw something cool. We stopped on the beach and splashed around in the water. We sat together and kissed. There was a nice park area where we laid out and listened to the waves.

We saw a local small food stand to get some lunch. It didn't look like much but it was really terrific. I saw this huge snow cone and had to have one. As we drove around, there were many signs for shrimp. After the third one, we figured we should check it out. There were several different types to choose from. (makes me think of Forrest Gump)It came with a pile of rice and tasty slice of pineapple. It was fun discovering this together.

As the afternoon was winding down, the traffic was ramping up. We were in "rush hour" traffic which was fine. I am not feeling creative enough to describe the landscape, the trees, the flowers and the beauty of that island. Although we were in traffic I couldn't help but think of how fortunate the average Hawaiian was to have such a beautiful place to be waiting.

The traffic was from Sunset Beach, where it seemed a surfing competition had just ended. We sat together on the beach and watched families relax, children playing, surfers, and of course couples being romantic. We watched the sunset from Sunset Beach. There is a picture we took together that I love. I look at it and remember what a wonderful time we had together.

Every time I have taken a drive with this man, no matter the place, we have been in stuck in a traffic jam at some point. Each time we've had to wait for traffic, it wasn't an inconvenience. It gave us the chance to enjoy the view, and another chance to make out while we waited.

I work odd hours so I don't encounter too much traffic. When I do find myself in traffic, I can't help but remember better places I've seen when stuck in traffic and the sweet company I kept while waiting.
