Someone missed their nap time.
As you weren't around at that time and you have no clue what the golden time was or time back in the day you have no idea what life was like. And you're to closed minded to even consider life was good back then and things were simpler, though harder.

@feathers: well said!

@Allelse: what a negative and bitter thing you are. Rude as shit too. Like a teenager whining about the old people. Amusing

@Fernie: Awwwwwwwwwwww! Touched a nerve did I?

Some was good and lots wasnt. Just wait, someday you will be saying the same thing to younger people.
JustLikeGreta · F
@Allelse: You will and each generation has something good to say.
@Allelse: you are truly a sad case, but that comes from inexperience, wait awhile and when some young punk disses you, makes judgements about you without having a clue I wonder what you'd say.

@feathers: Another deluded old fart whose totally missed the point. Ah well. I tried.

@theoneyouwerewarnedabout: That is quite the generalization you have there.

@theoneyouwerewarnedabout: My grandpa used to say "the good old days my ass! We shit indoors now!"
Think of the wisdom this young feller is missing.

@theoneyouwerewarnedabout: Those of us who do know the struggle aren't the ones bitching and moaning about how horrible things are or whining about how things were. We are making things go by any means necessary.

Some things were different though. I did some math, and because some goods have changed relative value over time, and other factors, $1 in 1950 is worth between $8 and $60 of todays money, measuring in at about $18 on average. Which means that back then, you actually might be able to support a family with minimum wage.

@Xuan12: I would agree with this point as to household income.
However, I would agree with the OP in that there has been a general upward swing in basic human rights in the US since the Great Depression WWII era. It's not a straight upward line. There are dips over a few years.

you focus only on the horror of the past. Aside from the horrors...life in many ways was golden. Sorry that's all you can think of...the terrible things from the past...you were not there so you can't ever know. One day...you'll be an old fart saying similar things
Allelse · 36-40, M
@Fernie: Golden?! GOLDEN?! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! It was only 'Golden' because you didn't know the terrible crap that was happening. There are good times in bad and bad times in good but things are WAY better now than they were just like in your day things were WAY better than they were before then. But you gotta accept, things are getting better. Its just these days you gotta accept the fact you're gonna hear about the pedos and the sickos and all that which in the past you didn't hear as much about. It was all covered up! And people just didn't talk about it! swept under the rug! I mean you had entire generations who never taught to deal with their pain, taught to ignore it and what did they do? Took out on their kids, on the people around them whose kids grew up to do the same thing and finally! FINALLY!! We get a generation which is taught to express themselves, taught to deal with the pain rather than ignoring it and all they get is"Oh back in my day!! BLAH BLAH BLAH!!". Hahahahaha!
Fernie · F
@Allelse: I didn't read your nonsense. Not gonna give you another second of my time. Buh bye ageist
Allelse · 36-40, M
@Fernie: Hey I got nothing against the old and decrepit, I got a problem with deluded old farts rambling on about the 'Good Times'.
Tminus6453 · M
Times are much simpler now as far as technology goes... the real "Golden" part back then was because i still had my youth..🙂
Allelse · 36-40, M
@Tminus6453: That's alright. Good man! I'm good with that!
