What's the average cost of rent where you live?

In my area, it's $900-$1000 per month for a one bedroom, and $1100-$1400 per month for a solid 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. For a good apartment, I should say. Hard to find a good one here below $900.
SarahAndSamantha · 46-50, F
my one bedroom one bath house costs me 425. It's not the greatest house, but I love it
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@SarahAndSamantha crafts at work?? Lol. But I'm guilty of watching a movie or 2 on the clock. But it was Saturday, super slow, and I was alone lol🤫
And it's 425/mo?? What state?
SarahAndSamantha · 46-50, F
@iamnikki my crafts are actually my job lol. I make halloween/horror/nerdy props and decorations for a living. And I'm in Kansas in a small town
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@SarahAndSamantha oh nice, I like that 😃
SkeetSkeet · 100+, F
@CountScrofula It resembles the Appalachian mountains
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@SkeetSkeet Despite everything I gotta deep love for that part of the US.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@SkeetSkeet Even though median income is ABSOLUTELY calculated through used needles lol
Darkskiescoming · 51-55, M
Glad I own my house. Lol
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@Darkskiescoming I hope to do that one day, lol.
Darkskiescoming · 51-55, M
@SubstantialKick cheaper than rent in some cases.
@Darkskiescoming yeah but homes now a days are like 300,000 plus

What bijoux said. Rent around here ranges from $3000 to almost $5000 a month for a one-bedroom apartment. The San Francisco Bay Area is the most expensive place to live in the country.
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@SW-User Sounds like you would have to make some really good money to be able to afford to live there.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SW-User no wonder camper van conversions are becoming so popular. Imagine getting a decent job there and then spending everything you make just for a roof over your head? Better to live in a van if you can build a tiny shower & put a toilet in the van, have a Murphy bed to flip down & sleep on.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@SW-User but you get to step over feces on the sidewalk. So worth it
walabby · 61-69, M
US$1200/month 2 bedroom apartment. US$1600/month for a house. Some cheaper, some dearer...
Brisbane, Australia.
ExtremeNext · 31-35
That's so cheap, I'm in Sydney and as Ned said anybody would be lucky to find something half decent under 2000 a month
Ynotisay · M
And people in a WHOLE lot of big cities read that and lose their minds.
@Ynotisay I thought $900-$1000 ? I don’t think you could rent a room for that here unless it was a private arrangement.
Ynotisay · M
@bijouxbroussard Converted garages in L.A. are going for much more than that.
SW-User
1k for 1bd .
SW-User
@empanadas it's like £400 for one in the town near me 😂

And out in the countryside here, I could get a 2 or 3 bedroom house for even cheaper.
empanadas · 31-35, M
@SW-User damn i need to move. main reason why im leaving the usa soon. rent is ridiculous in the cities
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@empanadas Here in the Chicago suburbs it's ridiculous, but in the city it's just horrendous.
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
$1000 for a one bedroom
LucyFuhr · 56-60, F
I'm in DT Toronto...rent starts at around $1500 for a junior bachelor, no balcony.
And that's in the sketchy, non-gentrified parts downtown.
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
@LucyFuhr Incomprehensible. I can’t imagine working in the service industry trying to make ends meet. Something has got to give
LucyFuhr · 56-60, F
@LunarOrbit I had such a love for this city when I first moved here 30+ years ago. I don't know if I had blinders on this whole time but the encampment situation and all the other ugliness COVID brought out was a real eye opener.

I'm pretty sure something already gave.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
Where I live it would be around $1600 - $2200 per month if lucky to find a decent rental
walabby · 61-69, M
@nedkelly You must live in Sydney... :(
nedkelly · 61-69, M
@walabby just north on the central coast
walabby · 61-69, M
@nedkelly Sydney would be even more expensive then!

Central Coast is a great location!

SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@Stressedout @canusernamebemyusername I'll be sleeping in my car, lol.
deadgerbil · 22-25
About $1,229, north west Chicago

I think it is around $1500/month for a one bedroom apartment here. More than one bedroom and you are looking at close to $2000/mo. And the prices are going higher, it seems, day by day. Any place that is under $1000/mo would be in a bad area... or way out in Helengone, as we used to say.
SW-User
$350per week
SW-User
@SW-User I need to move there immediately!
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Maybe $650 for an efficiency and $800-900 for a one bedroom, might be more, I haven’t checked & most places don’t advertise their rates in the newspaper ads like they used to.
For what? Varies wildly here.

3 bed 2 bath house can be anywhere from 1500/month to 4000/ month.

Apartments range from 1100 to 2500+
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
500-1200 it all depends you can even get places cheaper and more expensive In nicer and more dangerous sides of town
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
in my area prices are kind of high, 3 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms, 2 balconies is 2000$, but I get a deal because my landlord is my friend.
MellyMel22 · F
[c=BF0080]I know one 2 bedroom condo(1bath) next door to me is $1850 and a 2bedroom across the street w/just a larger bedroom is $2250. [/c]
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
Back in Arkansas it was $750. In Dallas, idk. We got a bunch of beautiful houses here so I’m sure it’s up there.
Lilymoon · F
$2,000 and up
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@Lilymoon That is nuts.
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@MrBlueGuy Where I am that could probably get you a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom townhouse.
@SubstantialKick Yeah something like that here would be over $5000 a month. The housing market is just insane tiny little bungalows are going for over a millon dollars dollars so it's driven up the price of everything
Islechris · 56-60, M
One bedroom £1, 500- £2,500 two bedroom £3, 500-£4,000
HannahSky · F
A lot higher than that and probably for something much smaller.
BalmyNites · F
Very steep, I live in a popular tourist area right on the coast
boredintexas · 36-40, M
Geez for a grand you can rent a house here
Iwillwait · M
To rent a room in a home it's 1000.00
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
YanaKirkland · 22-25, F
The new building up the road is $1800 CAD for a 1 bdrm
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
About the same as you. And I live in a very small town.
around 800 and i live in poorish farming area too.
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@Greyscale I'm moving there, lmao.
@SubstantialKick it's really cheap for tourists
SW-User

iamnikki · 31-35, F
About $3000-$5000 for a one bedroom, depending on the neighborhood.
My wallet hurts😞
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@bijouxbroussard That is insane 😯.
Azlotto · M
About $700 for a two bedroom apartment.
SW-User
@Azlotto I’m gonna live there.
Azlotto · M
@SW-User I hope you like central Kentucky.
SW-User
It's pretty cheap because I live in the middle of nowhere. I'm not sure of exact figures for average rents but it's much cheaper than the rent where you live
empanadas · 31-35, M
2k for 1 bed. up to 3k in a really nice neighborhood
