@MarmeeMarch Alright. I will tell how it is done. One needs a glass or bowl made of inert material (other ceramic or even metal as long as proper electrical insulation is provided where needed)in which the electrical fittings are placed at terminals close enough together to generate a current. One can even use plastic droppers around the battery leads to collect the gas. These are then connected to glass or polyethylene tubing. I can do this sort of thing. I can and have made a variety of pyrotechnic mixtures as well. Note that the high test hyhpochlorite of pool chlorine (and chlorox even) in readily disassociating into Cl- and Clo3- can be used to supply a strong oxidizing agent.
