Shoot, I've probably driven in over a dozen snowstorms and severe thunderstorms in the 18 years I've been driving. It can be an adventure, let me tell you.
I drove in rain that fell and seemed to be 2 feet deep suddenly, it was so scary.. I had to pull in for a moment, gather my bearings, the rain was coming so fast wipers were like nothing....It took me 2 hours to get home a 10 minute drive and I had no phone with me and my husband was at home with the babies and I was pregnant too.. OMG, when I think about it now, it was crazy.
I’ve driven on ice but not in severe storms except one time when a tropical storm came from the Gulf of Mexico and centered over Oklahoma...we got 8+ inches that night. I got off of work at 12:30 a.m. and didn’t make it home. There was so much water in the bar ditches they looked like creeks...got to one bridge that was covered with water and had to turn around and go stay the night with my aunt & uncle.
@Spokeskitties75 I remember the news story when I was 7, about the Delta jumbo jet that was pretty much slammed to the ground by a microburst near Dallas, Texas. Second major aviation disaster that year (1985).
Many times;once there was an ice storm and work wouldn't let me go. Luckily when I left the roads were empty but for 20 miles I prayed I wouldn't go into a pole as my car was all over t😨he road
Absolutely ! It’s part of life in Texas , especially where the farm is , snow , blizzards, ice , hail, heavy rain , high winds . We farm raised people learn at an early age 🤠.
like you say its a challenge ,but as long as you have snow tires or chains,the worst was driving up to whistler mountain, minus 25, snow just dropping like blizzard. 🙂
