I'm sorry this happened to you. Although it's probably not massively uncommon, I don't think we should underestimate just how badly this kind of behaviour makes people feel.
I'm all for people having to provide proof of identity and being made accountable for their words.

@jomsim Another way to look at this is that you really have to develop armor, you cannot be on these sites and be thin skinned. The ugly will come...from faceless strangers for the most part, who mean nothing in your life. I'm not going to give my personal information to a social media site because some people get their feelings hurt.

@Fernie Yeha, that is another way. Although I do worry about people here who are either too young for that, or vulnerable in some other way. I'd be happy to register my data with some kind of third party with the agreement that it only gets accessed if there's an investigation into me.
