I'm 63, best I can tell you is when people younger than you start to annoy you with their weird clothes and strange music and use dumb new phrases to describe pointless stuff in their lives then one day you stop and say to your self... Oh crap, I'm an adult!

For me it was living on my own and doing everything on my own. Independence made me feel like an adult.
