What would you do to occupy yourself if the power went out at 8pm and didn't come back on till the next morning?

It happened to me last night. I had 4 candles set up on the kitchen table. Gave me enough light to read for awhile before going to bed. It's been so long since the last black out. I had forgotten how nice it was to read via candle light.

That sounds nice. Last time I experienced that was actually in the middle of a hurricaine in Corpus Christi, Texas. hah! But it was nice. I've done that kind of thing a lot in my life, especially as a kid. I was one of the lucky ones... To answer your question, I'd probably do the same thing. :) Plus a hot, candlelit shower.

I would also read or write poetry or a story. Discussions about life with a partner are also good. Or talk about how these blackouts cause us to reflect upon our busy lives.

I don't think that would work in this case. The power company had issued the Black out for maintenance. Besides my Neighbour is 90 and goes to bed at 7pm @SW-User
