How often are you struck by random existential thought?

I'm of the opinion that it's a core part of being human, but that's of course just my opinion.

I don't mean necessarily to really think deeply on it, you could very well just discard the thought as soon as it occurs, more asking about how often those thoughts pop in your head. For me I'd say at least a couple times a week.

I mean, it is arguably the greatest and most fulfilling mystery to unravel :L
I get these pretty often and although I don't know how or when, I think I am comfortable with the why. Because it's all I need

Empirical is governed by experience, observation, or existence. What contact has been made with a separate world? .-.
Last time I studied this, I understood it to be a what-if perspective on how probability affects the motions of the universe. I was also confused as to how this theory claims that ALL possible happenings OCCUR and we follow just one path, but how come all those possible happenings don't infinitely recur or duplicate in happening or affect one another

Good thing. Because I ask questions so straight forwards that it shocks people XD

@SW-User That's the missing piece, we do observe the indirect effects of what could very well be a multiverse. Saying "that's not evidence" is like saying that the gravitational anomaly at Sagittarius A* isn't evidence of a black hole. It's not proof, but it is evidence that could be interpreted as a black hole. We now have enough corroborating evidence that it could certainly be called proof that it's a black hole, but that's after much research.

All competing models to explain probabilistic results in physics experiments are what-ifs too, there is no definitive answer yet. That doesn't invalidate them in any way, that's just a thing we don't currently understand. If you wanna discuss quantum mechanics and related theories though then PMs is a better place to do that. Less likely to get interrupted or have replies forgotten/missed amongst the stream of notifications. It absolutely will be long-winded, QM is crazy complex.

@UndeadPrivateer That's literally what I was thinking XD
Let's continue in PM

Every time I want to sleep. Especially when high and/or drunk.

@SW-User Them insomniac nights.
SW-User
@UndeadPrivateer For real. My mind is fucking empty 99% of the time, except when I want to fucking sleep because it's 6AM and I have to wake up at 7.
SW-User
not very often, i'll admit

@SW-User Out of curiosity, did you have a very religious upbringing or were exposed to such things at a young age? Just wondering if that plays a role.
SW-User
@UndeadPrivateer my family wasn't religious but i went to a christian school. i don't think religion has a lot of impact on existential thought though, i think it has more to do with the person
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@SW-User I think it's a combination of factors, honestly. But individual personality is of course always a big one in every person.

@SW-User I was tempted to say that too, but it's not quite that regular for me any more. I wonder if it goes in cycles for some? 🤔

hmm, the Hadron collider determined that matter shouldn't exist, yet here we and everything else is.... interesting food for thought, but ultimately I'd say "just roll with it".
