Were you ever bullied?

How did you get through it?
Do you still suffer from what you went through?
Are you being bullied now? If so, what is happening?
dannys925 · 26-30, M
Yes, I look like the American Indian I am. I live in town, not on a reservation, so I take my chances with getting put down by the master race attitude individuals who have tormented my life since I first could understand what the mean words they we saying meant. I'm dealing with it better as I get older, it is now more a consider the source reaction.
But, beat up pickup trucks sporting Confederate flags and trump stickers and middle finger scowls aren't doing anything to make America, my people's homeland for 10,000 years, a better place for anyone. We have to accept you are here, please accept that we were here before you, and let us have a right to exist as the humans we are as well.
dannys925 · 26-30, M
Hi Patti, Maybe I'm just to sensitive, by why she we have to be taunted as if we have no right to exist. They want us to stop cluttering their landscape with our brown skinned bodies. I'm not going to try to bleach myself white. I listen to Mr. Trumpet's opinions and understand what he is saying, even if I live in the woods in Alaska.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@dannys925 I have paler skin than most (my sisters are darker and have more of the Cherokee looks) and kids didn't realize I was Cherokee when they'd tell their little racist jokes. Southern culture hopefully they've learned better now. Their ignorance didn't shame me a bit and I'm proud of my heritage, we're descendants of survivors.
I love brown skinned men. There is nothing wrong with you....it's them.@dannys925

By a sister wh is a year older than me...she was kicking me in the head every chance she got when I was still a baby and bullying me too when we got older. Whooped her butt when I was 15 and put an end to it.
Good for you!!@cherokeepatti
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@MissMollyCharlotte0702 I don't like violence but thinking about it, it put an end on her end of it so it was good...sometimes you have to fight fire with fire and what she got was unexpected.

Yes. I fought back. No. No.

hi DJsmum2006
Yes more times than I can actually bring to conscious attention. It is a state of being which reoccurs again again as if life is theatre and the old characters - dressed ion different clothes and with new names - vary the plot slightly but the same old same old.
Find these archetypes of bullying adopt an aggressive posture and [push and push until they get a reaction. My elder brother did this and last time he came to my house I saw the micro expression of a smirk flash on his face. I concluded he had come to see me in order to upset me and I asked him what he wanted. I said I would not meet him again in my home but could meet on a neutral space like a beach. I have never seen him again in 10 years I guess. He is a Company Director and a psychopath as far as I can see. Fascinating World!
I have met many bullies in many settings in my life. When I recognise the archetype I am treat them as the enemy that they are. It still surprises me how many people adopt this archetype as it is a complete dead end. Punks all.
Best wishes
:)

hi DJsmum2006
Thanks.I do not know if he is terrible though. To me sure. I think it went way back into my family which I have concluded was dysfunctional. So he was made that way not born. That cycle is what I consider terrible. I am not like that so I consider myself to have won life's lottery! Haha well maybe not but hey.
Best wishes

This Be The Verse
BY PHILIP LARKIN
They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

But they were fucked up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another’s throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t have any kids yourself.

:)
Hmmmmm.....food for thought. @sogdianrock

Yes , in school as a kid I was harassed and bullied . I was also a first degree black belt with PTSD at that age . The girl ( and her boyfriend) got the full dose of rage . I got arrested initially but was released without charges being filed because witnesses corroborated my story .

I am still active in martial arts but switched to kick boxing 6 years ago . It just made more sense .
Good Job girl!!@TexChik
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@TexChik Wow...knowing you here that story surprised me....I guess we learn a few things when we need to defend ourselves.
TexChik · F
@cherokeepatti not too far removed from the horrid beginning to my life , PTSD was a real problem for me because I could not control
My violent outbursts . My adoptive parents put me into martial arts to help me find some semblance of peace , discipline , and give me an outlet for my rage . Those two just kept up an incessant barrage of bullying and insults until I snapped . I did feel horrible because I was afraid my new parents would be upset with me ... especially daddy ( a retired Marine) . But he was supportive and said that sometimes , good people have to fight ... and congratulated me for doing a fine job . Mom nearly died ! Hahahaha
I am 48 years old and still to this day have dreams of the bullying I went through when I was 14-15 years old. I wake up in a sweat. How can I still be affected by this?

@MartinTheFirst its not about forgiveness of the person.. all the drama someone puts a person through messes up someone psychologically.

@MissMollyCharlotte0702 My first job out of high school was at a local business, the husband and wife would snip at each other and that was bad enough. Then their business went down because of the recession and they were both real bitches to me....I hung on as long as I could because jobs were not easy to find especially for someone just out of school. I had a nightmare at least once a year for decades. Then after I retired from another job I saw this couple come into the Walmart where I had a part-time greeter job. I don't think either recognized me and they were both friendly. The last time I saw them the lady was walking like she was scooting along (elderly) and looked like she might have been wearing an adult diaper. In a single moment I felt some kind of compassion for her and I've never had another nightmare about that job. Interesting isn't it?

@SW-User yeah it is.

Back in intermediate school all the way through high school. I was depressed through all of it. I got through it but I just sucked it up. No one really cares for people who are bullied. I was even harassed by teachers in 5th grade. People see it and no one does anything about it and when someone does say something nothing gets done either
I hear you. My mother went in and it got worse. @MURD3RM0NK3Y
newgirl · 56-60, F
Yep. Growing up the bullies rode on the school bus with me. They picked on a lot of us. But I don't think it had any lasting effects on me. I chalked it up to there being mean people in life.
dannys925 · 26-30, M
@newgirl Not unlike other places in life. Guess it's an introduction to what you can expect to come in life.
Riding the school bus starts at age 5 or 6....in America....it's too young to be on a bus with other mean kids. @dannys925

I went through really bad bullying in middle school. In 7th grade. I was pretty socially awkward and was short and pudgy so I pretty much had a built-in "Kick me" sign on my back all the time. I still have a sort of PTSD from it. Thankfully I grew out of that, but I also experienced really bad bullying from toxic workplaces - bosses who were essentially egomaniacs and totalitarians. I wasn't singled out as much but at times it seemed that way.
Me too. I think I suffer from PTSD.Definitely worked in toxic workplaces.@pilgrim98

A few years ago, I took some of the situations I'd been through in my jobs and actually turned it into a novel. Was probably better for therapy than anything! 😂
Maybe I should do this. @pilgrim98

I was bullied when I was in grade school. And once when I was three. It was just a little verbal bullying, I got through it by telling my mom, she's very protective over me and ended up taking it up with the principal.
Afterwards, I wasn't bullied and then I moved.
I'm glad it ended for you.@NobleTiramisu

[c=#7700B2]if you count constant lame attempts of trying to humiliate me and so on from a group of dumb biatches, yeah I guess so..

I don't nor never did suffer from it. didn't care enough about what they thought of me to ever let them get to me

nope not bullied now[/c]
hunkalove · 61-69, M
I've never had any tolerance for bullies. I always fought back. Got my butt kicked a few times but it didn't stop me. Sometimes you have to fight. I hate bullies. That's why I hate the government.
True. I don't want this to be a political thread. It's more bullies face to face. @hunkalove
Pherick · 41-45, M
I was made fun of, but I guess not bullied? I wasn't a small kid growing up, so people made fun of me for that, but also, I wasn't a small kid, so I didn't get any real physical bullying.
Cowboybob · M
No. I like to think that I would be able to ignore anything hurtful.
You were never picked on even?@Cowboybob
Cowboybob · M
@MissMollyCharlotte0702 not much. Nothing more than normal. Give and take among friends.
Lucky man. @Cowboybob
MrsKatherineArch · 41-45, F
I have. I just removed myself from the situation as well as possible.
Do I suffer? No, I've gotten over it.
Am I bullied now? Nope.
