I Find Peace In Nature

Driving down the highway after a Father's day family thing around 10 PM, which in this part of the world, and this time of the year, is still daylight outside... The sun had long gone down, but the sky still had that pale yellowish/greenish glow... Soft orange-pink clouds near the horizon. Everyone went their own way, my adult daughter with her bf and everyone else with their partners, brothers or sisters. I was the only one who went home alone (as I live by myself, divorced ages ago, it's all past history now). It was such a comforting feeling. It had been a hot day, but at that time there was a pleasant warmth coming through the open windows as I drove at around 70 MPH. Little traffic. I was driving west, so I couldn't take my eyes off that beautiful, soothing glow of nature. Peace. It felt good to be alone, by myself. I wouldn't boast of being rich or successful, but I had my own car. Second-hand, 15 years old, but [i]my[/i] car, and I was going to [i]my[/i] apartment. 1 bedroom, small, messy but it was [i]my[/i] apartment, my refuge. It was one those rare moments when time seems to stop, and everything in life and in the universe seems to be in harmony. The sky evoked sadness, melancholy, but also closure. Satisfaction in knowing I did my best. Even as I didn't achieve all my goals in life, I knew I gave it all.

The mood was exactly like this song. A rare soothing moment when I've been at peace with myself and my life.
