People title or question are idiots...remove title or question

Blowing like a MF here and pouring rain last night. Sitting in my chair eating my supper and the phone rings.

Because of the weather, this is not unexpected. On the other end of the line is a woman telling me that she has no power.

"OK. We'll be out." I tell her and generally, this would be the end of the conversation because most people are relatively intelligent enough to understand.

This woman is not.

"So, what is wrong?" She asks. "I don't know yet, I am still in my living room." I reply. "So, how long is it going to take?" she asks. "Well, I have to put on my shoes, call the guys and drive to the shop before I can even find the problem, so I have no idea." I reply.

"So, like 10 minutes?" She asks.

I hung up.

But! It gets better!

I call my crew and put my shoes on and go out into the rain and drive into the shop. I am there before my crew, so I get into the truck and head in her direction to troubleshoot. I am about a mile from the shop and the phone rings again.

"You don't have to come. It came back on." The nutcase says.

"Really, what was wrong?" I ask. Because the power does not just "come back on"

"It just came back on" she says. And I here her husband in the background saying, "just tell him the main breaker was off and it was our fault."

I hung up.

A lightning strike may have caused the main breaker to trip.

Or one of the normal breakers is not working properly and an overload occured and bypassed the bad breaker thus causing the main to trip.

@Eternity Actually, it is a seasonal home and they had just arrived. They had turned the breaker off themselves before they left last time. The point of the matter was that they called the utility because their power was out and had unrealistic expectations at 6PM on a Saturday night and because of their own stupidity, which the woman refused to admit, caused two guys and myself to go out in the storm to look for something on the primary lines.

I have been doing this now for 35 years. The woman was a dumb cunt.
