Being a single dad with a daughter is hard in many ways but worth it. Hang in there.
I never understood girls pants styles when my daughter was young either. So many to choose from made me wish they were like men's pants very few different styles, much easier. At least at eight she can show you or tell you more about them if you are in a store. Good luck.

Soffe shorts (they have pants and leggings too) are fine. They are meant for atheltics and things like that but can be worn just as regular shorts too. But probably will run afoul of a school dress code.

You know a naughty girl that wants to be a good girl should have few shorts since the pants come down when the girl is spanked. You know a good father spanks his child so often that is child should never want to put on pants.
