will i ever leave a mark in this world?

I am always scared from the dying without accomplishing anything to the world.
scared if I am just an insignificant worm!
I need to matter to the world.
I feel empty and dead inside when I encounter this kind of depression!
HELP 😶

Tell you what. Since I was 16 I feared the same thing. I mean what are you expecting to do? Build another pyramid or Great Wall? As far as I can tell. If we treat everybody we meet with the same respect we want from them and (hopefully) they have smile on their face and a better view on people and life or themselves in general. What more could you do? Just gotta make sure every new connection is treated like it's a old friend or family member with respect and love.

@HeyITHAPPENS: that's inspiring, i feel that i gained that needed insight, I might have been thinking superficially and being narrow-minded and greedy.
i am pretty sure my question came from the fact I am an introversion and seek perfectionism, and I want to prove to myself that I can accomplish something in the future not just setting unrealistic dreams.

@KaiKaga: we can all think superficial and be a bit greedy at times. Just keep on keeping the big picture in mind and mountains will be moved. Life is a lot more simple than society makes it out to be(in my personal opinion at least). Live and love. Doesnt make you any less important.

almost everyone is insignificant.. the only thing you may leave an affect on is the people around you.. you need to be different than the rest. you need to have intelligence a heart. a willingness to want to make a difference. you have to have a desire. not like most of men these days who just sit behind their computers harassing women and watching porn. you have to get out there and do something or invent something.

@theowl: thank you very much :), i feel grateful, your words were strong and i felt them, i wish you nothing but the best!

you can quell this unwanted feeling by helping someone besides yourself. :)

Are you familiar with Ralph Waldo Emerson's definition of success from the mid-1800s? It is as true today as it was then, and something you can do now.

To laugh
often and much,
to win respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
to appreciate beauty;
to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch, or a
redeemed social condition;
to know even one life
has breathed easier
because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.

If you live by these words, you will live a life of meaning.

Go to college.. get a good job... marry a nice lady... have a couple of kids... raise them to do same..
Done.
KaiKaga · 26-30, M
@walabby: really??! With all due respect, i hate to live up to such concept, feels like we're animals, i feel we are meant for something big, and the only difference between normal people and geniuses is they have guts and face the unknown.
I like to think outside the box, people have been doing this for centuries, where's the fun in that?
thanks sir for your opinion :)

@KaiKaga: I was just stating an entry level for leaving a mark on the world. At least you would be leaving offspring. If you are capable of so much more then go for it. In fact, why are you wasting time here on SW?? :)

Who are you trying to impress... others .. or self?
KaiKaga · 26-30, M
@MikefromEP: Myself, but i know i am lying, cuz i keep telling myself that i want to impress myself, therefore "others" :/
MikefromEP · 51-55, M
@KaiKaga: Lying won't work
