My feelings exactly! If I can't make a mental/emotional connection with someone I can't get close to them...whether it be friendship or any kind of more serious relationship.

I would say this is true for me but it involves the intellectual also. I think it's possible to enjoy "lust" without a mental connection but once it wears off...usually quickly...you are back to zero again.
