If a person is willing to do that...who am I to say they shouldn't or can't? A person can't control their feelings, but I also think if the other person doesn't want them...then they need to step back and respect that.
Mostly, I think it's a very very sad choice. I had an uncle of sorts, who never officially married into the family, but lived next door to the love of his life(who was abandoned by a dirtbag husband and the whole divorce thing got crazy) for fifty years. They were as good as married and all that and he took care of her and she of him. They were buried next to each other. It was beyond beautifully tragic.
I don't think I could do that very easily.

To his dying day, he always seemed happy, he must have found a certain contentment taking care of his love even if she refused to basically love another or get married. And it was obvious she was head over heels sweet on him. It just was sad that I think it would be hard. It would be intentionally going into a sexless marriage.

20 years ago ive been into a similar feelings, that was exactly what i believed things to be.It took me 7 years to finally realize that i was actually over it already.i gave it time to meet and get to know people and i fell inlove again.unrequitted as it was, but i wont change a thing if given the chance.

I was married to him, we are divorced now. I wasted almost twenty years on him. I wouldn't advise that.
