Should I move to Ohio or Connecticut? anyone living in either state have feedback?

I am planning to move from NYC in a couple of months. I've been living here for too long and want to move somewhere new and start all over again. In my previous post i mentioned I am trying to get my life together. Something that is really hard to do in NYC. Too many distractions. NYC is getting more expensive, more crowded, plus crime is going up. I am stuck between Ohio and Connecticut. I am leaning towards Ohio because it is very affordable and offers something completely different from NYC. With Connecticut I would be close to family and friends in NYC. Price wise I am looking for something under $1,000. Trying to get a little studio. I currently don't drive or have a car. But I have found areas in both states that have pretty good transportation. If anyone have lived in both or either states. I would Love some feedback and thoughts.
