India just banned Tiktok and now the US is considering it.

Is the government overstepping or is it putting its citizens first by considering this?

Would this open the door for more potential bans?

Is this something the government should be concerned with?

There may be legitimate concerns but the problem is that the government hasn't provided any actual proof, and doing this ban today opens up the possibility that there can be bans on American apps in future (and likely far more accepted since there's so much information already on Facebook and Microsoft's partnerships with spy agencies). Also, trying to keep people from using popular services is a difficult and costly exercise, there's every chance it becomes "cool" to get the app from a dark web source, much like prohibition couldn't stop alcohol

trump is mad because they made him look about as intelligent as he is, which is pretty small. He thought there were going to be 1,000,000 people waiting to adore him at Tulsa and there were 6,000 in a 20,000 capacity stadium.
He got his feelings hurt and now he is mad.
Banning tik-tok is about his speed though.
He would have the whole 18-21 group motivated to vote against him in November. 😂

I don't know anything about tictock, and don't know why they are considering banning it. I am NOT in favor of bans, unless it is hurting children.

Just read the other posts. I get it now and agree with them.

@curiosi tiktok is Chinese owned, a platform where people record themselves. They can pull all your data and..you better not say anything against the Chinese regime

@revenant Thank you, I have heard it mentioned on here but that is all I knew of it.
Anything with spyware should be banned..

How stupid can our governments get?

Or corrupt. You choose
revenant · F
Chinese spyware and if it affects the security of the nation, then yes.

Absolutely yes! These are the new weapons, of warfare!☺️

Tiktok is one of the stupidest things plaguing the world, so I wouldn't be against it being destroyed if the logic behind why is at least reasonable.

If necessary for national security, yes....but make it very clear exactly why you’re banning it.

Yes, I think it should. I really don’t trust China anymore and it’s billionaires
Peppa · 31-35, F
I say yes but more because of how annoying it is
What’s the reason India banned it ? We didn’t ban that dumb Pokémon game, and people were getting mugged and murdered over it...
tenente · 100+, M
look, why would i use TIKTOK when they steal my data to send back to China? I can be a GOOD AMERICAN and use facebook who steals my data and sells it to China like a true patriot 🤔
