Why am I caring and supporting to people that treat me badly in my life?

Maybe I don’t have self respect? I don’t know...
Maybe being caring and supportive has little to do with what you receive from it.
Or maybe you are using it as a tool to prove to them that you are worthy of something. I believe a lot of us do this.

They treat me so badly but I can’t stop worrying about them especially when they vent their emotions. It gets to me @nonsensiclesnail
@Itsjustbrit I was raised with the belief that if someone doesn't like something it is my fault; because of something I did or did not do and it is my job to make it right.
Even now when my husband is mad or doing something that is contrary to what I am doing, I feel it is my job to join him or support him in some way.
Do you know what total horse shit this is?
Are you aware of how wrong and backwards this thinking is?
It is really hard to unlearn - to do differently.
so, with that said, I know it is much easier to say than do.
Stop trying to make them happy. Stop trying to prove to them that you are worthy.
You are worthy and their thoughts and actions are their own. They are not you.

Who you are is who you are, can't control how they are. You're young, find someone worthy of that attention.

I believe I already did but I still treat others kindly no matter if they treated me awful@raysam363

@Itsjustbrit Can't compromise yourself. If it works out, great. However some people don't deserve kindness, so don't waste too much energy on them.

Because you're better than they deserve
Maybe your self-esteem is lacking. No one deserves to be treated badly. And sometimes you have to walk away.
