Is everyone on the planet entitled to a base-level amount of the planet's resources for security and survival?

monte3 · 70-79, M
Social Security , Medicare, food stamps, and yes even ACA are all attempts to provide basic needs etc. So yes in my world taking care of others is paramount responsibility. And this in no way means I do not believe in capitalism as deeply. It does men slightly higher tax rates on those of us with above average incomes.

@Budwick or you refuse to acknowlege some hard truths about american history
and saying someone is a socialist is not an insult
Budwick · 70-79, M
@SW-User Eric, if you call me a socialist, you better run!
SW-User
@Budwick BW of course you arent, but i dont think you are a fascist either which is an insult

Sure Mark - that's exactly how it works. So, when cars roll off the line, eventually you should be able to drive one away - Afterall, part of what went into all the cars is yours. Or maybe it's that you get a lug nut and I get a front seat. You'll have to talk to AOC for the details.

Yes, because even if you have everything you need, you will have resentment from those who do not. One of the things that have triggered revolutions, and civil war.

@chrisCA And yet society seems intent on defying that human nature.
chrisCA · M
@MarkPaul History has shown that you can only defy human nature for so long.

Well of course we are!
sure. but you have to fight everyone else who feels tehy own them to take possession. Good luck!

@TwiddlerofThumbs It's not a question of ownership. It's about the planet and its resources... at a base level... already belonging to everyone.
@MarkPaul Just the humans, or, everything? And say that it's just a known fact that this planet belongs to us all, so what? Being entitled to something doesn't mean anything unless there is action taken. What is the action that is expected along with this knowledge?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@TwiddlerofThumbs Humans, as the stewards of the planet. It is up to each individual to act by being productive according to their capabilities.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
Depends on the perspective. From a natural standpoint we are no more entitled to the resources than would be any other animal would be.

From a human centric viewpoint, it would be the most moral option.

Entitled?? No.
