Please explain why you think Communism is bad or good?

BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
Assuming you're talking about proper communism, I think it's good because it would result in an excellent public sector than ensures everyone has their basic needs met, but I also think it's bad because without any form of private sector whatsoever, consumer goods would be really crappy and we would have shitty cars and electronics and furniture and stuff like that. So, at least we'd all have food and housing, but we wouldn't have much else going on because the consumer market would be shit.

@BlueMetalChick As a person coming from a post socialist country, I have to say that products made in that era were of much better quality. The problem was that everything looked the same and practical aspect mattered the most. Also, there was shortage and poor variety of products. Shoes and clothes were made to last decades instead of one season and they did, even though there were only several models available. Nowadays, everything is made to last only a few years because then it would be "out of fashion" anyway. Products are deliberately designed to get broken soon so you could buy new ones. In the old days, it was normal to repair old broken stuff, now nobody does it because you can buy new cheap stuff from China.

Though it seems that the problem isn't in economic system, problem is in people who want everything now and as cheap as possible, no matter how shitty or even dangerous the product is.

@CrazyMusicLover Disposability is a problem these days, especially when it drives interest. Although I forget about that often because I'm pretty good at fixing things, and I don't get rid of clothes because of them being out of style. In fact, I still own and regularly wear a number of t-shirts that I've had since I was in the 7th grade. They still fit, and I still like them, so why not.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@BlueMetalChick I can relate. I still wear T-shirts that I wore 10-12 years ago too but they are not as good as 100% cotton ones that I found in my grandmother's house. I feel like sooner or later, all these synthetic fibers absorb sweat in some nasty way and can't be washed properly anymore.
Socialism killed millions last century.. communism is just a stronger flavour..
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout No, communism is not a stronger flavor of socialism. Socialists and communists hate each other because one embraces private sector consumer economics and the other condemns it.
To me being a Norse Pagan is bad. The government should not have total control of acoitial means of production, economy, and services. We as people have to set our own high and lows ourselves.

Sure we thinks it’s great on paper thinking we are all equal regardless of our position but not when it’s from the government making us all poor and then hording the money

I think it has good ideas, I think every form it has taken so far has been bad in its execution. I don't think it works with humans behind the wheel, simply because humans are selfish creatures who wish to further themselves more than others.
Correct. The human element is never considered. Neither the fact they expect brain surgeons and garbage collectors to work 80hr weeks for .. free rent and a bag of groceries and a free trip to the dr. It’s laughable@UndeadPrivateer
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout I can't say I've ever seen that model of communism, lol. Sounds like propaganda to me.
Wraithorn · 51-55, M
I think that idealy communism sounds like a good thing because it should level the playing fields of life a bit.
Unfortunately where Humans are involved communism can easily become oppression.
I think we need to find something which is between communism and capitalism. How ? I'm afraid I have no idea.
NicoleA · 26-30, F
In theory it’s a great idea, but it doesn’t work, and it will never work.... Look at all the countries that have tried to use the concepts of communism, all of them have ended badly.

Nobody will ever be able to make everyone completely equal, it’s a fantasy that will never work.
SW-User
I think it has its good and bad sides
iMystery · M
@SW-User You're originally from a Communist country, right?
SW-User
@iMystery Correct
iMystery · M
@SW-User Then your first hand experience and insight is rather valuable.
Fantabulous · 46-50, F
I think we just need to watch what is going on here in SA to know it's bad...cos this is NOT a democracy by any means!
iMystery · M
@Fantabulous I am afraid to even think which direction SA is headed towards 😖
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@jetpack Your reply? But I wasn't tagging you in the comment. I was replying to someone else.
@BlueMetalChick theoneyouwerewarnedabout was saying that in China that is the official record. That they say that is the end of the story.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@jetpack And? That's my point.
[c=#359E00] surprising. I was expected to see people band together spread hate[/c]
SW-User
Well, I don't think it is good. But that's just my point of view.
