Someone actually listening is always huge ,huge with me
I test people ,,"now what did I just say"?
most people can't tell me ,
They can tell me bits and pieces ,but few know exactly what I said ,,,my kids know ,I will start talking about the star ship enterprise and see how long it takes you to get ,I know your not listening ,,your nodding your head like you are
But your not ,I can see it in your eyes ,your brain is somewhere else ,,
,we have lost the ability to focus
Have you ever noticed commercials people are always moving their hands and arms ,or they have a lot of body language ?
That is to trick your brain to pay attention
Or the average person ,you will loose them in 8 seconds
So someone who actually listens to me ,,that is huge with me

I can go on for minutes before most even get I am doing it
My kids are all sitting back grinning ,,thats normally the give away ,,they will go "What ? why are yall staring at me"?
and I will ask what was I talking about ,,and they try to play off like they heard me ,,but they only heard bits and pieces ,,
And my kids see what I mean ,,they know to pay attention .
But its just my way of proving ,,the problem is getting worse
I get my family to write things down ,commit it to memory,not just look it up on Google ,,
that is not committing it to memory ,when you can't use a phone ,thats not going to help you .
When I take the time to share something ,or to teach
its not to waste my time ,,I want you to get something out of it ,,
It may not help you now ,,,but I know ,,it will sometime in your future
I have raised a few future leaders ,,and its wasn't by letting them tune me out
For instance when we have a hurricane ,and power is down for weeks ,,I can send my kids to help ,,and lots of people are glad they are there ,,they know what to do
I don't have to be there to hold their hand ,,
I trained them
they know how to improvise

Guilty about my voluntary loneliness and not doing what I should be doing to be ready for the week. Not enjoying what I should be looking forward to, not motivated to change my circumstances with the fear of feeling horrible with the new circumstances and losing everything.
