Was I rude or him? What would you do in my place?

I am working in an office. The office has several workers including me. Every two or three workers has a trash bin 🗑. Ours got full, I thought of changing it later, and I put my cup in others trash bin. The other worker took out and throw it away in the floor and said “don’t put it here” I didn’t say anything. But i am planning to not talk to this guy anymore. Am i wrong?

@Abood3033 It was real immature what he did ,
I would have dumped my trash and his just to show him how petty he was
But to be as immature adding to office tension was the reason for my reply /opinion
I am a peace maker
When everyone gets along we are a more productive team
Its sad to hear when adults act like children
and then we wonder why kids are the way they are ,,
Even if you don't have any ,,I am sure some watch what you do
they see everything
