Why can’t people just be kind and accept difference?

Why are people so hostile and negative?
Why can’t we just be genuinely curious about trying to understand difference?
Why does someone always have to be right at the expense of another?
Why is their always an underdog? A misfit? A freak?

People have been on all kinds of journeys in their lives, many of them painful. Unfortunately that pain causes hostility and negativity which are not always handled in the most mature of ways, which manifests on it being taken out on others.

That is true, I always try to see why people are hostile@LyricalOne

Not all people are like that. There are plenty of accepting and caring people, may be you're just around people who aren't

@MayaHope I think it depends on where you are, I think there are messages in society that are harmful and that's a factor but most people i have met plenty of good hearted people who don't perpetuate them

I think I’m old and disillusioned @JammieDodgerHeart

@MayaHope no you aren't, I think there are shallow and judgemental people but I see them as hurting / insecure, projecting or just misguided

Life is ying and yang. Good and bad. Its what you feed your energy into. Focus on the good and befriend the kind and float by the negative and dont attach your mind to it. Its hard but mean people are suffering. And they are outwardly throwing their aggravation on you. Try not to take it personally. Its their energy. Their vibe. Like good souls and... well i dont wanna say bad souls but suffering souls. That dont know how to deal with their emotions so they lash out.
MayaHope · 41-45, F
Yes I think I absorb it too easily because I just want to believe everyone is doing their best @DarkSideoftheMoon

@MayaHope some people are. You know what, my inbox is full of ppl looking for a friend. Someome to talk to. I support them the best i can and they support me too. And theres many ppl who are part of the problem. But lets not forget the people who are always there to inspire. They deserve that recognition and lets not give shine upon the ones who dont

Because many people need to feel better about themselves and don't understand how to go about making their lives work for them in the way they want it to. They resort to easier methods learned in childhood.
MayaHope · 41-45, F
How do we help them? With kindness? @SW-User

@MayaHope Unless they are open and willing to change, we can't. If they are open to it, they need to be taught how to change lifelong patterns. They need to learn how to retrain their thought process, which only a good therapist can help them accomplish. It takes a lot of time and commitment, which most people aren't interested in doing.

Because people fear what they don't know. And we have been shown time and time again to react violently when you fear something. Its wrong but it is all some know.
