Making an inference sounds like you're using data to form an opinion, while a judgment could be based on anything or nothing at all.

Yes there is a difference. Though how many people are truly objective is what causes those lines to blur.

To me, inference is a conclusion based on assumptions.
Things already known concluded to a logical assumption.
To the receiver, it could be a judgement, if they are feeling guilty or misunderstood.

Inference tends to be objectively evidence based, judging is more opinion based on the evidence. Imo but could be wrong.
