Just saw on the news that a Learner driver is out on bail after a Hit and Run injuring a 2 year old...WTF?

The news didn't say who it was and who that person is related to. But that's not right.

For a Learner Driver to drive away from a Hit and run should qualify for automatic loss of license..@dunpender

Yeah what the hell is going on the the Justice system lately ..its everywhere not just this country

Isn't that a felony? I wonder why that person wasn't considered a flight risk.
Must have friends in high places.

@Groofydorkgerdo Just another stupid decision from the state of no crime

You’re not from AU by any chance? Because we have a piss weak justice system that lets murderers walk free after 5-10years.

@dunpender But our latest prime minister wasn’t voted in by the people and decided by its own party. How is that democracy?

Wouldn’t a learner driver (not sure what it means) be a minor? In the USA we are typically not allowed to report the names of minors.

@SW-User the person is 21
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Not necessarily. I haven't got my license yet and will become a learner driver when I pass the test. @SW-User

What state is this in?
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
New South Wales I think. It was a Channel ten news bulletin @nedkelly
nedkelly · 61-69, M
@Thevy29 In Victoria, that state is left wing madness - Zac Larkins has since been charged with failing to stop, failing to render assistance and driving without a full licence.

So what's the context? Did he turn himself in?

Some people panic when accidents happen and they just drive. It's the flight or fight response, so depending on the circumstances it could be the appropriate way to go about it.

@whowasthatmaskedman He dumped his car?! lol wow yeah he seems like a dangerous and disturbed individual. Possibly seen too many crime shows.

He is certainly not the sharpest tool in the set.. But why should the community have to put up with people like that at all? He has demonstrated how little regard he had for others.@MartinTheFirst

One of the problems we have in the criminal justice system is lack of beds. This is caused by another problem of the system which is locking up people for relatively minor crimes. I'm not talking about this case, but others where community interventions would be more appropriate.
