How is it possible the Texas school shooter killed ten people? He didn't have a semiautomatic or an "assault weapon".

I thought those those evil semiautomatics were the cause of this sort of evil. That's what everybody was saying after Parkland.
The fact that you’re valuing your own political beliefs over dead human beings shows how much of a sociopath you are. The majority of those wanting gun reform want to create policies making it harder for people like todays school shooter to access firearms through means such as extensive background and psychological checks. The proponent of semi auto bans are just a minor technicality in that. But I guess you empathize more with the shooter and his dad who are huge supporters of Fox News and the NRA after all.

@Insomniac100 Wow, I couldn't have said it better myself 👌
Deadcutie · 18-21, F
@Insomniac100 don’t act like you give a shit either, as long as it happens to other people, everyone lives in thier own self absorbed bubble
redredred · M
The shooter was 17 years old, he has no legal path to gun ownership. Tightening the process of acquisition will have no effect on someone already barred from legal purchase but I suppose facts are disposable in your pursuit of your political aims. @Insomniac100
Deadcutie · 18-21, F
He killed with his good looks
Deadcutie · 18-21, F
They are looking at another suspect as well
YoungPoet345 · 26-30, F
@Deadcutie Oh, I see. Gotcha. That's good to know.
Deadcutie · 18-21, F
@YoungPoet345 both are detained
Then you haven't understood the actual issue, only the straw man you're confident enough to knock down.
Typical.
YoungPoet345 · 26-30, F
@Pikachu Oh, okay. That makes sense. Thanks for the context.
@YoungPoet345

No prob bob👍
YoungPoet345 · 26-30, F
😂👍
BatRinseRepeat · 31-35, F
Maybe it's time for everyone to just knock off the politics and try being a little more human.
BatRinseRepeat · 31-35, F
Let me know when any jackass politician has the guts to bring that up for a vote.

In the meantime how about doing a better job of treating each other with empathy and compassion?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@BatRinseRepeat Empathy and compassion are important... no doubt. But, it's time to force the issue which could be viewed as being heartless.

Presumably you are talking about empathy and compassion for the victims. But, we also need to exhibit understanding for those (idiots) who think the NRA is interested in something other than selling more guns and still force the issue. Gun control needs to happen. The time is now no matter whose feelings get hurt.
redredred · M
There are already over ten thousand gun laws in effect. Do you really think one more will produce the effect you want? This is a mental health issue, not a hardware issue@MarkPaul
Why don't people sue the NRA?, they are the crux of the problem. It's like cigarettes, and I bet if you look into it, a lot of the NRA members came from that background, they know what gun addiction is and how to milk people for all their worth. They don't care how many die from it, and never will. Until someone grows some balls to knock them down there will never be a solution to this.
@Deadcutie Besides, what is the point in having guns for protection when they are locked up? if someone kicks your door in, you need it loaded and ready... right?
Deadcutie · 18-21, F
@UreBesFrend irrelevant... you are responsible for who you allow access to your gunns.. period...
@UreBesFrend You've used the phrase "deflecting blame" in reference to the NRA. Did the NRA illegally acquire the firearms? No. Did the NRA plan the mass murder? No. Did the NRA go through with the execution of the mass slaughter? No.

The shooter knew exactly what he was doing and he knew it was wrong. Had even planned to kill himself before authorized got to him. There is only one person to blame...the shooter.

Pointing fingers at anyone else...now THAT is deflection.
YoungPoet345 · 26-30, F
Guns kill people?
@YoungPoet345 Only if you use them like a club. Actually, bullets kill people.
YoungPoet345 · 26-30, F
@LeopoldBloom They do? People don't just use guns like boomerangs to hit people in the head? Or like giant clubs? I didn't know guns had bullets.
@YoungPoet345 Try throwing a bullet by hand at someone from 20 feet and see what happens.
kutee · T
its shameful that people would use the deaths of ten children to make jokes aobut gun contorl
redredred · M
Take out the murder rate for the Chicago, Los Angeles, Baltimore and NYC, cities with the strictest gun control laws in the country, and the US murder rate falls way, way below that of Britain.

Mexico has the strictest gun control laws in the Western Hemisphere and a murder rate far above the US.

Lastly, the US gun-homicide rate is half what it was in 1995, it's in general decline.@kutee
@kutee @TexChik is correct. Your comment about the US being the only developed country...blah, blah, blah is leftist bovine manure.
@redredred correct. Brazil leads the world in firearm homicides, followed by Venezuela, and then Mexico.
really?

A sawnoff shotgun , an AR-15 and a pistol.
@BizSuitStacy No, you just want to arm teachers.

My solution is to just accept that one of the things we have to put up with in America is lots of random mass shootings, and there isn't shit we can do about it. It's just a fact of life here. There are other aspects of American society that are more appealing, so like anything else, it's a tradeoff.

There are way too many guns in circulation for any restrictions to have an effect, so there's no point in even discussing it. Liberal politicians use gun control as a way to solicit contributions from their base, the way conservative politicians bleat and moan about abortion and gay rights to solicit contributions from their own base. So naturally you're going to hear stupid shit. They're not talking to you. When a liberal says something stupid about guns, think of it the way you would if you overheard a conversation at a Trekkie convention or a religious revival. It's not supposed to make sense.
@LeopoldBloom Actually, I don't want to arm teachers, but rather have professionally trained security at schools. I do not disagree with your other points.
@BizSuitStacy We can have the armed guards after we have enough textbooks and other supplies without teachers having to buy them out of their own salaries. And schools are already enough like prisons, we don't need to make them even more like them.

Nope, I'll take the occasional massacre of children. It doesn't happen that often anyway, no more than once a week.

He's good with guns 🤷🏻
kutee · T
its all dreadful, and so soul destroying, children were killed
@kutee You are right, it's horrible. Serious question for you. Why do you suppose the Parkland School Shooting got so much more media attention than this one in Texas?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
He used a homemade bomb that sprayed shrapnel.
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
People are the cause of this sort of evil
