@nadine not sure what's going to happen next. Pediatrician has torn the skin away more than once and parts keep re-attaching. And my niece has done what they recommended and it's not working either, so...

@AndreaMom both are unnecessary surgery done for cosmetic reasons. Yes FGM is far worse, but male circumcision can also cause problems.

@AndreaMom No it is the equivalence of the removing a girls clitoral hood, prepuce or foreskin which is homologous to the male foreskin. They develop the same embryonically and are the same kind of tissue. The majority of the FGM or female circumcisions performed on non-consenting girls by Shiite Muslims remove all of part of the clitoral hood. It is estimated that around 580,000 innocent young non-consenting girls are subjected to this every year in the USA alone. The authorities and some women’s rights advocates turn their heads the other way saying this is done for cultural & religious reasons.

Some girls are subjected to the more radical forms of FGM but the majority of girls are circumcised similar to the way boys are circumcised. All or part of their clitoral hood (prepuce or foreskin) is removed.

When men are erect they nearly look the same anyway, the foreskin isn’t as pronounced
