Are you interested in genealogy - the study of where your people came from?

Or are you more interested in the future - where you and your descendants and the World are headed?

My wife is very much interested in genealogy. Her ancestors came from Germany and Cornwall, and she has gone to both places several times to study her family's past.

She has not gone to Europe in the 19 plus years we have been married. Thus, we are flying out of Sault Sainte Marie, Ontario, Canada on February 15 to Heathrow in London. From there, we are taking a train to Penzance in Cornwall.

She is going to show me around Cornwall - where she has been six or seven times - for two weeks. Then, I am flying home, while she stays for another four weeks to seek her ancestors.

I know vaguely that my mother's family came from somewhere in England, and that my father's family was from someplace in Germany.

I am not interested in knowing more than that. To me, genealogical study seems to bring one more factor to divide people - ethnicity. "My ancestors were better than your forebears."

I would prefer to look to the future - of me, of my family, and if the world!
