As a writer

Do you story board your entire story before you start, or do you just make it up as you go?

After 40 years as a failed novelist, I learned to work from a very precise detailed outline. The only thing I don't know is what words I will use, and occasionally my characters surprise me. I am currently on my fourth novel. Two of my favorite authors, Larry McMurtry and Donald E. Westlake, just winged it.
@hunkalove That is interesting isn't it. I guess some people just enjoy the freedom that comes with leaving everything wide open. I would think a complex plot would need to be structured though.

Do you use Scrivener? or something else?
