Why do people send their stuff down the belt at self checkout when you're still at the other end trying to bag your stuff?

I always wait. Even when the person knows I'm waiting and is just taking her/his sweet time.

checkouts I go to have two bagging stations, so thats why I do it. I can be rang up while you're bagging, then proceed to bag my own when they ring me up..

We don’t have belts at self-checkout. Guess too many people were getting killed from all the mishaps.

Everyone is in a hurry these days, and a wide open belt is very enticing.
