Is carrying a gun or pistol with me make me more safe ???

I use to travek by my scooter or in car late night. Is holding a pistol with me make me safe ??

@xSharp Yep. I've read about how they're cross-breeding in the wild. Pizzlies. Habitat changes with the climate might result in a whole new breed. Might be the only chance for survival well down the road if we keep losing ice. Nature always adapts.

@xSharp I don't know about that. Their populations are dropping like a stone in a lot of areas. When sea ice and seals aren't around...
But animals have a way of adapting. I imagine they would get smaller and lighter and lose some of the properties that keep them warm in frigid temps.

If properly trained, maybe. I would say in general no, it just makes you able to defend yourself. Doesn't mean you won't get hurt, and there's always a chance you hurt yourself or the hostile person gets a hold of the gun.

@SumitaSarkar Not the worst place, but still an unfortunate reality that it's very easy to get wounded or killed regardless of being armed or not. No one's invincible.

@SumitaSarkar im saying be aware of your surroundings and take nothing for granted, in doing this you can protect yourself without ever needing a weapon.

no, learning how to use the pistol and in which situation you should ready it will make you safer. just having a pistol and it will be taken from you or worse you draw it in a panic and shoot someone who just aking for directions and did not continue to approach you once you have told them to stop or you may fall off your scooter and it could discharge a round into you or an innocent passerby. knowledge is the best defense so educate yourself before attempting to protect yourself with something more complex than a knife.

@SumitaSarkar maybe just pepper spray.. lol you might fall on a fixed blade and a folding blade might be to complex for you to figure out in the heat of things

A weapon is only really useful if you have the will to use it, otherwise it gets turned against you. Have you got the will to shoot & maybe kill someone?

@SumitaSarkar if you hide it, then it's not of use to you anyway, so why carry it? If you bring it out, but aren't prepared to use it, you *might* scare him away, but at least as likely, he* will take it off you and be angrier.

If you are going to carry one, in this case, at least carry an unloaded gun.

@SumitaSarkar You said, you don't have the will to use it? So you pull the gun and menace someone who is threatening you - if you make it seem believable, they back off, but if you don't seem fierce or strong enough to use it (or if they're just really dumb), they'll take the pistol off you, then either keep it to sell, or shoot you.

@SumitaSarkar Studies have been done that show the incidents of accidental deaths are way higher when people are carrying concealed weapons. As someone else said, your best defense is being smart about your surroundings.

@SumitaSarkar Say someone cuts you suddenly and pulls a gun on you, they're prepared, they're attacking. You're not going to be driving holding a gun with its safety off, right?
You won't have time to react to their attack in good time even with a gun unless you have specific training.
So a gun is not necessarily something that will keep you safe.
