Is forced eternal bliss better, worse, or equivalent to self-determined happiness?

SatanBurger · 36-40, F
Worse. I think of the Utopian fallacy. If you look at utopias in literature and in fairy tales (the originals,) you'll find that for every utopia is someone's hell. It always takes sacrifice of some kind. In real life utopias were actually dictatorships and totalitarianism. In the story of Adam and Eve they were damned because they ate from the tree of knowledge, (my opinion only) meaning people need to live in ignorance in order to have a utopia.

To live in the "garden."

The number one rule I have with people is to be wary of anyone who sells themselves like they are a business for the above reason. In business terms, nothing good is free. It's the same with people like that also. There's always a catch and they'll always be who they say they are NOT. All of it is smoke and mirrors.

@SatanBurger If we were to give them bliss as well, I'm thinking of the hypothetical being a deity that can just grant the bliss with a snap of their fingers

@Jackaloftheazuresand Well if put that way then I don't know. You don't make this easy lol 🤣

I would say in an ideal situation it would probably be the equivalent. If there were no tricks but only if given a choice to live that way but then that takes away from the idea of forced. There's something about forced anything that doesn't sit right with me even forced bliss. It's hard to say so my answer isn't changed.

The nature of deities and the literature about them doesn't point towards facts that they are good willed in nature. This isn't always set in stone but more observational.

I don’t know how you could force eternal bliss. So I would just stick to things that would and have produce real results on something and be content with that.

@SW-User It would have to involve some grand supernatural ability

Alright, purely because of this question, it's time to go watch Evangelion again!

@RemovedUsername8862 It's not over until the OJ flows

@Jackaloftheazuresand Yeah, time to Tang!

Seriously though, what a great discussion of that very question.
