What does 60% british mean in ancestry DNA tests?

Does that mean i am 60% English, or could i also be 60% scottish or welsh, pls help i want to try to understand my results XDDD

I suspect it's supposed to mean that 60% of your DNA is exclusive to the British Isles.
But given that the English have invaded and settled all over the British Isles, i doubt you'll be able to determine a percentage of Welsh or Scots.

@PrinceOfSangra Oh that makes you a potential Celt !!
I wonder if any of the more 'Celt savvy' folk on here might know more !!

@dunpender O that would be cool, i remember the sister of my father ( which is where i get most of my british DNA from) has natural black/very very dark hair, so that could be the Welsh or Scottish in my family haha

@dunpender I have dark brown hair, olive/light-medium brown skin, and brown eyes XD thats also cuz i am 27% african because my mom was a afro-caribbean.

seems like a weird result as Britain is made up of Wales, England, Scotland, and I would have thought tests could/would differentiate between each
PrinceOfSangra · 22-25, M
@Salix75 Well AncestryDNA doesn't do that unfortunately but not that i really care, i'll just identify as 60% scottish since my aunt told me people of my father's side of the family are from Scotland, England, and Ireland so yeah, i could be everything XD

Yoooo is that a Ghanaian flag I see?👀 Anyways, no it doesn't specify which area so it could be anyone
Any of the British isles, I'd guess
