How does absolute darkness make you feel?

All the power's out & it's dark as I've ever known, the silence is ringing in my ears.

I love it.

Darkness is peaceful, however I have experienced something scary in the dark too, I slept over my best friends place, the night before she left to go overseas to see her dying grandmother, we slept in a bunk in the down stairs bedroom where her brother usually sleeps, but this night he went out with friends, anyway my friend and I chatted until 1:30 am my friend eventually fell asleep so I I turned off the lights and climbed the top of the bunk, the room was pitch black except for the lights displayed on the alarm clock. At 2am I was about to drift off to sleep when my friend started to call out my name and i thought she was dreaming, I kept calling to her then she stopped. and next thing I heard someone close to me breathing heavily the kind of breathing that when someone runs and try to catch their breath. I felt uncomfortable and I thought it was her brother joking around, I started to curse and tell off what I thought was her brother, I think I was shouting for about 1 min and after saying out loud that I am going to kill him the breathing stopped and move to the foot of the bed and disappeared. All that time I started to get an eerie feeling and i started to move closer to the wall . After I feel asleep eventually. The following morning I asked my friend was she dreaming calling out my name. she didn't want to talk at first but eventually she said I thought you were sitting on my legs last night, I said in the dark, well yes she says then you got off and I went back to sleep and then her brother came down too and I asked him what time he came home and he said 5am and i asked wether he came in the room down stairs, and he said no, he knew we were sleeping there so he just went upstairs to his own room. My friend asked why all the questions? and i told her what happened and an hour after that her aunt called and said that her grandmother had passed away at the same time I heard and experienced all those strange things.I told my friend that maybe she came to say good bye and though that I was her brother.

Had a power outage a couple of weeks ago, I loved it too. Something about the absolute quiet.. and only the night is there.

Yeah, it gives you this feeling, something you never feel within the confines of society, have you ever been out around 3-5am? The city becomes a different place, or anywhere you go for that matter, without people to color the streets, without their noise.

There's a peace & a beauty about it that isn't present about anywhere else, aside from, perhaps, in nature or strange circumstances.
I embrace the darkness. The darkness is where I belong.

I do not like it.
If I can lie down and I feel secure, I'm more likely to sleep.

What if you feel secure but you can't lie down?
