Did you ever have a childhood (pre-age 13) crush you couldn't quite get over?
It was in the fifth grade. My girlfriend was a sweet little "Brit" named Sharon. She got the nickname "Muffit," though I never knew why. She had bond hair and blue eyes like me.
Once, I gained permission to spend a couple hours in the evening at her house. I live in the dorm and she lived in town. We spent some time in her kitchen talking to her mom then went into the bedroom she shared with her little sister. I think the door was shut. That didn't matter because we went out on the window ledge and talked more intimately. I asked her if she wanted to kiss before I left and she agreed. In way too short a time, we were interrupted by the door swinging open.
It was her little sister informing us that it was time to take me home. We climbed down off the window and she closed the bedroom door again and we placed our arms around each other and kissed. Nothing passionate at that point, just a nice little COMpassionate kiss and left the room. She road with her dad to take me home and just before I got out of the car. she gave my hand a little squeeze.
I moved out of town for a year then came back. We exchanged smiles but had a group of kids who wanted to help us exchange information back and forth. I'd ask a question and the kids would deliver it to her and come back with a reply.
When she said there was another guy she was "seeing", I was devastated. My last childhood crush was in third grade and Sharon was only my second "love." I got over it but she was just so special to me. To this day, I have nothing but fond memories of these two precious girls. ❤💓😀💘
