I Wish I Could Leave The Past In The Past And Not Look Back

Regrets of an Unforgiven Mind
by: Rob Paquin

It's times like these that rip apart, the insides of my soul
questions unbidden assail my thoughts, and turn my heart so cold.

A turn, a twist, a forgotten kiss, and days of mournful sorrows.
Looking, staring, through veiled eyes, hoping for tomorrows.

But I lost the past, and stole a future, then lit fire to my foundations.
All that's left are these rhymes of mine, these paltry false pretensions.

Pondering the things that I see, and contemplating all that stuff,
and all the things assailing me, which often seem too much.

I feel the dread, I think too often, and always I'm obsessing
I fear these thoughts and all they bring me, my psyche, it's regressing

So I'll find a hole, and in I'll crawl, just waiting for the end
regretting all the time I've wasted, and my failures as a friend.
