If a bad dream wakes you up do you finish it while you are awake and conscious?

I remember many of my dreams...some of them so strange that I still remember one of them that I had in high school. Waking up is always my escape from the dream, and in many of them I am literally escaping AS I wake up.

I don't remember that happening with any of my dreams.
