Would you buy a car with a typically low resale value to save money?

I mean, a vehicle can have a low resale value for a variety of reasons. It could have sub-par reliability, it could be a boring or bland model that no one gives a crap about, or it could be a model (or make) that was discontinued. That being said, it would probably be best to research just why the resale value is so low.

Since I drive a vehicle until the wheels fall off, resale value means nothing to me. Scrap value on the other hand.....

@Powderflask That is the right attitude. A vehicle is nothing more than a tool to get you from point a to point b.

@goliathtree That being said I'm probably better off selling my Toyota Camry on Craigslist. I doubt I would that I would get much from a dealership for it.

@SubstantialKick direct sale is always better, In addition to standard title transfer, just make sure you do a bill of sale with the key words "AS IS" on it signed by both you and the buyer.

@goliathtree that's what I try to tell ppl. Last year I put a story where I bought my first truck. A 2006 dodge dakota. This thing is a 4 door v8 work truck I paid $2000. My brother was like "dude it's missing paint, your windshields cracked, and there's no hood ornament."

sure. The truth is all cars have awful resale value if you're buying them new. But only if it was reliable. Save your money for investments, not liabilities.

The cars that typically hold their value are more expensive. Some people can't afford them.

Some ppl, as in private owners just want to be rid of it. Sweet deal! 💰
Depends, if it is enough for my needs then, yes.
