How do I determine what my life's work and mission should be?
I know, I know I should have figured this out a long time ago. It's time to make specific plans now though.

It's as Steve Jobs said. You don't connect dots looking at the future but you connect dots when looking in the past.
So I think this works and it is the only thing that does not overwhelm one is to decide what do you want to do the most right now ? And do just that. Present will shape up the future. Thinking about future will waste both present and future.
