Would you leave a good paying job that makes you depressed and try your hand at something else?

Pherick · 41-45, M
I think I would, making money is one thing, but a bad job will ruin all aspects of your life.
/@Pherick Thanks Pherick...let's see what 2018 brings! ☺

@metaldog I hate to say "it can't be worse than 2017", but lets hope its better! ;)
@Pherick Indeed! ☺

I really don't know what I'd do.
But something like this was happening to me, and I chose good pay. And somehow I made the heart to settle. And I'm not depressed. Because I know what depression is. Most days I don't feel like going, but I find small motivations.
@SW-User I'd have part time work and study

@metaldog Then choose where your heart can be strong.

If you are aware of your strengths and flaws, then you know what is best for you.

I actually did that twice; worked out fine!

@lacsar If you don't take the leap you'll never make change!
Always a risk in changing jobs especially if it's good paying. Are there things that can be changed in your current job to make it less depressing or is it the nature of the work?
@Majorlatency it's the nature of the job and the people there
Gentlemenjack · 36-40, M
I've done it, I loved it, started my own bussiness, but it didn't work out,I don't regret it though, for a few months I felt amazing. On the side of my business I'm working for a job I hate now, once I save up more money I'm going traveling. I agree,bad job will ruin many aspects of your life. I stayed with a job I hated for 12 years, never again. Ill use the jobs for money and keep trying to do my own thing, even if it's less money.
@Gentlemenjack good luck to us both!
Gentlemenjack · 36-40, M
I hope you have the best of luck!!!! You'll feel great once you quite, it's like a weight is lifted off.
@Gentlemenjack thank you 🙂

Yes, I did it 30 years ago and never looked back.
testbutton · 51-55, M
i just did this. i was dreading going in and found something else with a little less pay. once i figured out i could make it work it was a no brainer, and now after being in it for a while, it was the right choice.
@testbutton Ooh this is what I like to hear ☺ Glad it worked out for you!!
5thApprentice · 31-35, M
Yep for sure.
@5thApprentice it does get harder as you get older...will my age be an employment factor?
labsrock · M
The best thing to do is look for something else while you are still employed there. It's always easier to find a job when you already have one and to land something comparable in pay.
@labsrock I would get part time work and be studying
labsrock · M
@metaldog If it's enough money to keep you afloat until your studies are done, I'd say go for it then if it feels right.

Over your lifetime you spend far too much time working to stay in a job you dislike, working at something you love is much healthier even if it isn't quite as lucrative.
I wanna say for myself it would depend where I’m at in my life and if it would be wise.

But i mean if it’s that bad then make a run for it
if I'd something that really attracts and interests me I would consider it
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
Good paying jobs are rare. I would stay
sciguy18 · M
If I could afford to do so.

Yes. Although it's not a good paying job but I am very much depressed at my job. I am at a stage where I can turn into other jobs. But the struggle in moving out isn't easy untill money is flowing in the pocket.
antonioio · 70-79, M
Yes I did
I worked in Waterford crystal and the pay was huge and I left it
@antonioio why did you leave?
antonioio · 70-79, M
@metaldog doing the same thing day in,day out would have destroyed me also money is not every thing
Analysis what you really need to live on and it dose not take much
antonioio · 70-79, M
@metaldog its not as easy as trying your hand at something else
You should have some idea of what would suite
Goralski · 51-55, M
Like stripping 😕
@Goralski If I had that kind of body perhaps
