I Am Confused About My Feelings

Her mind raced, filling her head full of confusing thoughts. She didn't know how to feel anymore. What should she do? How can she make sense of all the emotions running through her? With a heavy sigh, she tried to shake her mood, but it stuck with her no matter how hard she willed these upsetting thoughts away.

"I'll call ______," she decided, picking up her phone and dialing the number.

"Hello," a voice spoke on the other end.

"Hey, I'm so confused right now."

"Why? What's up?"

"I'm thinking about some things, and I need help deciding."

"Okay."

"So, it all started when someone confessed having feelings for me, and at first I thought I returned them, but I went back on it when my family found out and my mom convinced me that God would not approve of the relationship, and if I want a relationship with God, I must part Him first."

"You can have a relationship with someone you like and put Him first."

"Not according to my mom."

"She's wrong, then."

"That's the problem. I don't know how to believe. My mom or the person I'm in love with."

"Listen to your heart."

"My heart is just as confused as I am. For starters, Jesus lives there, so how can I be in a relationship with this person and listen to my heart, if God and Jesus doesn't approve?"

"How do you know that they don't approve?"

"Because my mom--"

"Why do you have to listen to your mom?"

"Because she is... Well, she knows more about the Bible than me."

"The Bible says God loves all, no matter who it is or what they've done. He forgives. It says He's a forgiving God and if you repent your sins, He will forgive you."

"But how can I constantly repent if the relationship is a sin?"

"Why would the relationship by a sin?"

"It is according to my mom."

"Stop listening to her! Love is love. It is not a sin, and God will never look down on you because of who you love."

"Maybe..."

"You need to start making your own decisions and live your own life."

"I know, I know..."

"You really need to move out so you can live a life without your mom there to boss you around."

"I know..."

"But remember, I'll always be here for you, if you need me."

"I know. Thank you, and... I love you..."

"I love you too."
