@AbsolutelySerious: We see them all the time here in northern Wisconsin.You can see green,blue,red and even purple.You can see them dance as they ride on the magnetic lines of the upper atmosphere.Really quite beautiful.

Yes in Alaska many years ago. One of the most incredible spectacles I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing.

@irishwonder1973: Yes when they are multicoloured and really moving you can sometimes hear them. Most often not.
