It is real. You or family members could have money you forgot about. You can just go to your state's website and search unclaimed property.

I was alerted to such funds by receiving letters in the mail from not one but two different predatory recovery companies. Since unclaimed funds are a matter of public record out of necessity, there are companies out there that offer to help you get your money, for a fee of a percentage.

The thing is you can do it yourself for free! I did my own search of the state site and filed my own claim without surrendering a dime of over $1,000 in funds I was unaware of before those letters arrived.

If you get such a helpful solicitayion, ignore it then visit your state's unclaimed funds website.
