So I have an ethnic sounding name...

Does the make the victim of white privilege when applying for jobs?
MaryJanine · 61-69, F
No. Because I have an ethic sounding name and, even when I call for services, people screw up the spelling, or pronouncing, or both. I am willing to help anyone who asks when they can't do either - in fact, I want to go out and kiss the sidewalk when someone asks.

I don't consider my name as a "privilege" of any race for ANYTHING. Neither should you. I am who I am, and I'll be that way until I die.

And, by the way - don't forget that man in the White House has an ethnic sounding name and I heard it admitted before he took office. In WW 1, it was anything even remotely German that got the "cold shoulder". In WW II, it was the Japanese because of Pearl Harbor. Privilege of any word, shape, or form doesn't get you a job.

I will not give it to anyone exactly. All I will say is - it is a German name which everyone mashes up or else misspells it. It has 11 letters in it and people add extra vowels or they leave it out.
