What are your thoughts on Critical Race Theory? Should school systems teach Critical Race Theory?

sweetcheekz · 22-25, F
As with a lot of theories, there can be discussions around it. I think that the theory itself is solid and makes sense, but there are people that use it disingenuously. As far as schools go, they should teach it, just like any other important theory that shapes the world. Students should know what it is so they can decide for themselves what to believe.

It is funny when I meet a black person from overseas, from a third world country. They always ask the same questions, what is it with these american blacks? Do they not know how good they have it. I have about had it with shame on you for being white.

@Johnson212 You are misconstruing what CRT is. CRT does not shame people for being white. The theory itself is about how there is systematic and institutional racism present in our system for decades that disproportionately affects people who aren't white.

In fact the theory itself indicates that its not individuals who are racist, it's laws that may seem colorblind but disproportionately put people of color at a disadvantage that are racist. If you believe or hear differently its because people who don't know what they are talking about are spouting their opinions.

@sweetcheekz evidently the practice is different than the theory . Or maybe not.

@sweetcheekz What's the solution?
Thodsis · 51-55, M
If it helps the students win races then it should be implemented. It should be drug-free though..

What is CRT? Please explain.

@AthrillatheHunt What is it?
Critical race theory is an academic concept first developed by legal scholars in the early 1970s. It argues the legacy of white supremacy remains embedded in modern-day society through laws and institutions that were fundamental in shaping American society. Generally speaking, it rejects the idea that laws are inherently neutral, even if they are sometimes applied unevenly.

Its backers say that American society, framed by the Constitution, gives a leg up to white people—but that it could be made more equitable if more white people acknowledge societal advantages of having been born white.

@TheArbitrator so it’s only critical of one race ?
Rolexeo · 26-30, M
It's racist and not scientifically backed
