Yes, evidence has shown eyewitness testimony to be one of the weakest possible elements to a case. The human brain is designed to make sense of a very confusing world and it will fill in spaces whether or not we want it to. Add to that the new understanding that we only ever recall the most recent memory of an actual event and not the actual event itself, and suddenly recall becomes very suspicious indeed.

That's why investigations for officer involved shootings take two years but only take two weeks for everyone else..
