If You really are an Atheist. Why do you still cry out to God when times get tough?

When your loved one is dying and no medicine can heal them.

You beg God.

yet.......Claiming there is no God..?

Not all atheists do, I can assure you.

And those who do, for the same reason why theists curse against it when they're angry, i.e. there's nothing useful you extrapolate from the behaviour of a person in a highly emotional and possibly irrational state.
lol , sorry I was in a debate that went awful. Hey just because I put this post up doesn't mean I don't respect peoples opinions. Atheist or not, God is not a favour of man. He loves you to pieces x.
Sorry for the blunt reply is wasn't personal. @Elessar

@Wearelivinginamadworld It's fine, I was in a silly mood and still partially numbed down by lack of sleep hours, I can barely remember answering this.

I see it/him as a construct of human intellect, not exempt from design faults (the epicurean paradox, for instance). I find rather odd that someone who designed a world populated by creatures who have to brutally kill one another for their survival was moved by "love" for said creatures.
Hey no worries, it really is Ok .

I believe this is a start. Most people who call on Jesus grip to this piece of scripture

Also have a quick meditation in the Holy Spirit this week and I will pray daily for you

Hope this explains a few things. Going to work now, but will chat later if you want

John 3 vs16-21

16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

17 - For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.

20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.

21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

Blessings and hope to speak later x @Elessar

Yea, I hate hearing "oh my God", and "Jesus Christ!" too. Why are you calling His name at all if you don't believe??
Elessar · 26-30, M
@iamnikki Because they're part of the common language. Same reason why theists and non will exclaim "holy f*ck" without necessarily thinking about any otherworldly orgy I guess.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Elessar I do get that it's part of some people's speech but why those phrases in particular... Why not just say jeepers!, skittlebop or anything besides Jesus Christ!
Elessar · 26-30, M
@iamnikki I guess it varies region by region, and language by language.

I was once this Hippocrate. It took me years to realize I had been lying to myself and others stating that there was no God. 😞
uncleshawn · 41-45, M
@Iwillwait Can you post about this sometime? I'm curious to hear how you came to a change of mind/heart.
Powderflask · 31-35, M
Cry out to god? Never. I watched grandpa slowly die of cancer and dementia, I didn’t beg god for help. Sadistic bastard
Because maybe the person wants a God to exist so they beg for any kind of help even when no help is coming. Do you really think atheism is a choice? Then start believing deeply in santa right now. You can't believe through choice. You have to be convinced something is true. And an atheist can't force themselves to believe even if they did want someone out there that cared. Crying out is a last ditch effort for relief even when you know it's going to fail. That's why you only turn to it when all other routes have been exhausted. Same as giving up and turning to crystals or homeopathy. Humans have a drive to do anything to try and help a situation. Even when what they are doing does nothing or even has the opposite effect.
Also they are colloquialisms. And does not actually reflect a persons actual stance on anything. Like if someone says f*ck me when something bad happens they aren't literally asking for sex. This is a no atheists in foxholes argument. Which the original creators said was not an argument against atheists. It was an argument against foxholes.
cant we just try to let this GO?

Won't discuss this, nobody wants to. Its rude too.

People have smarter things to do than massaging the European Religious Inquisition.
So very sorry for my replies yesterday. I was trying to answer 3-4 different posts and im talking hundreds. Today this morning, only for maybe an hour. I thought , should I sign in this afternoon??? So here I am, but here to apologise to you personally also.

All my posts ,will be focused on Jesus. And I will keep it light. My Relationship/NOT religion, with Jesus is beautiful. People obviously don't understand about the relationship a Christian has with the Living God, Jesus Himself.

Hope you have a good day x
@Elevatorpitches
@Wearelivinginamadworld Bu the finger pointing to the moon...is not THE MOON

My only point.

Be well.
Rudeness takes all forms and shapes and so does kindness
Language is debased and all of us engage in sloppy language regardless of our self-perceived morality

Better not to talk so much, that goes for everyone.

The modern hip Thomas Merton knew about that, spent years in a silence-monastary.
Better though to bring that monastary into real life and all should think more before talking.

But its not really a religious thing. Just a better-humanity thing, and with that we are all still in kindergarten.

And that said I'll say this again. Religious people don't hold a corner on morality and the hypocrisy is boring and sad.

The WORDS are not the reality just as the finger pointing at the moon
is not the MOON! Even Jebus preached that stuff.

The God part must be in our mind.

I don't. There's no point crying out to a non-existent entity.
I don’t do that...
