Do you believe a virtual hug can give the same comfort as a physical hug?

Recycled question from an old EP member Z1309. Odd that I remember the question and the original author. But there it is.

[@472983,CrazyMusicLover] I understand.

Strangely, it can...it can be just the thing that the recipient needs at the time
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
[@475592,DragonFruit] I used to think so too.
Asificair · M
In the abscence of a rl one, it can make all the difference 🙂
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
[@854658,Asificair]Yes. I thoughtbso too.

Not even close , it’s a very poor substitute for the real thing.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
[@15534,TopOfTheWorld] I have to agree.
LAWD NO !

they can emphatically meant, but then it can be all fake .

Even real hugs can be fake .

A true hug....you feel it into your heart.

It changes your heart rate, blood pressure and either excites or relaxes your nervous system.

True hugs are emotional morphine 😁
[@9537,LadyBronte] hahaha🤣

Once upon a time, long long ago....there were these things called hugs....🤣
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
[@710185,BoobooSnafu] I have begun to think they were all make believe.
[@9537,LadyBronte] yeah.

Kids from the future will hear fables of them 😆

[@1201561,Kimchigirl] I understand.
KuroNeko · 36-40, F
No it's not going to release the same chemicals. I guess it's affect will depend on your imagination skills.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
[@1095867,KuroNeko] Yep. And how badly you want to believe they were sent in love.
KuroNeko · 36-40, F
[@9537,LadyBronte] It's nice to know people care. I can feel very strongly the intentions of others, I just think that we are cutting ourselves short to try to imagine the physical element. It's never quite going to cut it.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
[@1095867,KuroNeko] And you never know with a virtual hug if it's real or just lousy words on a screen. *shrug*
KiwiBird · 31-35, F
Virtual anything is not the same as the real life equivalent.

Physical Hugs can be as fake as an orgasm...

Virtual orgasms can be more intense.....a real mental mind fuck.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
[@521524,KiwiBird] Yep. Very true. Both can be intense. Both can be fake. There are no guarantees.
KiwiBird · 31-35, F
[@9537,LadyBronte] No arguments here....
StormInaTeacup · 46-50, F
It's a comfort to know someone cares enough to offer but it really can't fill the need
zorroo · 56-60, M
Sometimes it can be even more comfortable more than physical hugs when there is true love.🤗
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
[@4109,zorroo] And sometime what we think is true love is just a figment of our imagination.
zorroo · 56-60, M
[@9537,LadyBronte] unfortunately, it happens a lot, but that because of our wrong choice or being too much innocent.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
[@4109,zorroo] past.. I chalk it up to naivete and being a poor judge of character.
OldMan70 · 70-79, M
No, and I am an optimist..
KiligAF · 18-21, F
Definitely not
BigBen · 61-69, M
No, it's better than no hug at all, but virtual is nowhere near as good as physical.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
[@323826,BigBen] Yes. Probably true.

LadyBronte · 56-60, F
[@942128,Midnightoker1] Lol. Thanks.
GLITTER · 31-35, F
I think it offers a different comfort. Not one you can feel physically but one you can feel in your heart
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
[@610096,GLITTER] Yes. This.

LadyBronte · 56-60, F
[@397348,Adogslife] Aww...thanks. That was really sweet.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
[@9537,LadyBronte] Perfect. It was meant to be.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
[@397348,Adogslife] Hugs back.
PerfectionOfTheHeart · 41-45, F
If you’re a person who puts great emphasis on what’s seen on a screen, it can come pretty darn close to the run-of-the-mill hug. I know there’s been a few times when I’ve felt tremendous comfort from virtual hugs because of their timing and the connection felt from the one providing the hug, but even saying that there’s no virtual hug that can touch the comfort felt having one in person from someone you feel safe in the arms of.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
[@436944,PerfectionOfTheHeart] It can happen. But it is so difficult to swallow when you find out it was all fake.
PerfectionOfTheHeart · 41-45, F
[@9537,LadyBronte] If you encountered that, I’m so very sorry that happened. People who do that, especially for sport, are a little too common these days. It can easily make those trusting, pure of heart souls turn cold and dark over time given just how frequently the fakeness is encountered.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
[@436944,PerfectionOfTheHeart] The deception was huge, the deceit and callousness cut deep.
Magenta · F
No, there's no way it can.
