How fame works

I just - randomly - remembered reading about success in Hollywood.

It runs its course, and casting new movies goes something like this (not necessarily for Mr. Redford).

1. Meet newcomer Robert Redford.
2. Who is Robert Redford?
3. Get me Robert Redford.
4. Get me somebody like Robert Redford, only cheaper.
5. Who is Robert Redford?

Reminds me of what I read online about a recent Jeopardy contestant. The final Jeopardy category was "Hollywood Legends". The clue was "This director once said, 'give me any 30 pages of the Bible and I can make a blockbuster movie out of it.' "

This contestant had a different definition of "Legend" than I have. The correct response was Cecil B. DeMille, but the contestant answered "Mel Gibson."

I wonder if he asked, "Who is Cecil B. DeMille?"

@DrWatson Fame is fleeting. I think it's maybe a curse. Elusive while you seek it, intrusive while you have it and a devastating emptiness when you lose it.
